Heres an interview we did with Ladydoll when they came to Dublin to play at the HWCH festival. The four piece band definitely don’t sound like your typical Irish alternative band… head over to their myspace for a listen.
Where are the band from?
Two of us are from Cork and Nora the bass player is from Ashbourne, and Dave our guitar player is from Kilkenny.
How did Ladydoll get together?
We met in Colaiste Stiofain , the music school in Cork, we were all around 20 or 21 when we met.
Have you got an album out?
Our album has been recorded, we have just finished mixing it there with Aidan Bush, the guy who did the Muse album, he is a big enough name, so that was cool. The album is pretty much ready to be mastered and the artwork to be done. It’s coming out in January. We are releasing a single called “You Know Best” in December.
Have you many gigs planned then?
Yeah, we have an Irish Tour in December, the dates are to be confirmed but I think we will be in Cork for the 4th, in the Twisted Pepper on the 7th with three other bands, and on the 15th in Bakers Place in Limerick.
How did you come up with your the name Ladydoll?
It’s a word I had written down, and I liked the way it sounded. It looks good written down too!
If you could have any famous person in Ladydoll who would it be?
William Burroughs, he’d just talk softly through the microphone!
What are your HWCH plans? Who do you want to see?
I wanted to catch The Villagers tonight anyway.
