Benefit Gala at the Irish Writers’ CentrePosted: 14.11.2009
There’s been a few events that we’ve been desperately wanting to go to recently, but this comes top of the list, hands down. The Gala Reading at the Irish Writer’s Centre on 19th November looks like it will be absolutely brilliant. First up, there’s going to be a reading by Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney, which should be enough to get you all battering down the door already. As if that wasn’t enough, John Banville will also be giving a reading. I’ve just bought a copy of his latest book, The Infinities, and am almost embarrassingly excited by the prospect of hearing him read. Finally, the event will be hosted by John F. Deane, poet extraordinaire. The evening is a benefit event, designed to raise funds for the centre, so be prepared, the tickets are pricey. Visit the Irish Writers’ Centre website for details.
