New Amusement at Yours TrulyPosted: 07.01.2010
It’s Yours Truly in Crawdaddy tomorrow, and there’s a pretty good line-up. New Amusement are headlining, and I’ve been wanting to see them live for ages, ever since I came across a copy of their debut album Any Port in a Storm, sometime last year. Have a listen to their single “Gone to Sea” – it’s on their MySpace and is strangely addictive.
Killer Chloe are also worth watching – last time I saw them live was in a particularly sweaty and overcrowded room in a rave in a bungalow, somewhere in the Dublin mountains (thanks Genockey!). They have a very distinctive live presence, which is shown by the strong student following that they’ve accumulated over the past couple of years.
Kid Karate are also supporting – I’ve no idea what their music’s like, but again, I would like to catch their set.
Alas, neither of us will be able to go. We’re currently stuck halfway up a snow-covered mountain, miles from civilisation, and have not been able to leave the house for the last EIGHT DAYS. If you’re one of those lucky fuckers whose road is not covered with six inches of snow and ice, then you should go and see New Amusement tomorrow. Think of the fun you could have, listening to the dulcet tones of some of Ireland’s most exciting new musicians, whilst revelling in the smug knowledge that you’re not under weather-imposed house arrest, with nothing to do except work on a never-ending dissertation on Eilis Dillon.
Yours Truly is on at Crawdaddy, Friday 8th January. Doors 8pm, admission €10 (free into Club 12:51 in the Chocolate Bar afterwards)
